California Roll for Hinamatsuri (Sushi Recipe) ひな祭り カリフォルニアロール 作り方
Japanese Doll Festival (Hinamatsuri), or Girls' Day, is held on March 3rd.
On this day, we set up hina dolls (hina-ningyo) since they are believed to protect girls from bad luck.
Hishi Mochi (diamond shaped rice cake) is usually presented with hina dolls. Hishi Mochi commonly consists of three layers: pink, white, and green, from top to bottom. It is said that pink represents peach flowers, white represents snow, and green represents grass. Those colors have a meaning to get the power of nature. Therefore, I used these three colors for my California roll :)

California Roll for Hinamatsuri
Difficulty: Easy
Time: 20min
Number of servings: 2 rolls (16 pieces)
Necessary Equipment:
makisu (bamboo sushi-roll mat)
Ingredients:
1/2 avocado
6 Kanikama (imitation crab sticks)
((Pink Sushi Rice))
* 110g (3.9oz.) cooked Japanese rice (short-grain rice)
* 2 tsp. Sushi vinegar
* 2 tsp. Sakura Denbu (pink colored seasoned shredded codfish)
((White Sushi Rice))
* 110g (3.9oz.) cooked Japanese rice (short-grain rice)
* 2 tsp. Sushi vinegar
((Green Sushi Rice))
* 110g (3.9oz.) cooked Japanese rice (short-grain rice)
* 2 tsp. Sushi vinegar
* 1 tsp. Aonori (green laver)
1 nori sheet
soy sauce
Wasabi (Japanese Horseradish Paste) if desired
pickled ginger if desired
Directions:
((Pink Rice))
Place cooked Japanese rice in a bowl. Add Sushi vinegar and Sakura Denbu while the rice is hot and slice through rice using rice paddle to separate the grains. (Cool the rice before you use.)
((White Rice))
Place cooked Japanese rice in a bowl. Add Sushi vinegar while the rice is hot and slice through rice using rice paddle to separate the grains. (Cool the rice before you use.)
((Green Rice))
Place cooked Japanese rice in a bowl. Add Sushi vinegar and Aonori while the rice is hot and slice through rice using rice paddle to separate the grains. (Cool the rice before you use.)
1. Cut 1/2 avocado into 4 strips.
2. Cover a bamboo sushi-roll mat with plastic wrap. Cut nori sheet in half and place it on the bamboo sushi-roll mat, shiny side down.
3. Spread 3 different colored sushi rice (pink, white, and green) alternately on a sheet of nori sheet using your finger tips, little bit moistened with water. Turn it over so that the nori sheet facing you.
4. Place avocado and imitation crab sticks lengthwise on the nori sheet. (cut them if too long.)
5. Roll the bamboo mat forward, hold the line of ingredients firmly with your fingers, stop and leave about 1/3 inch of sushi rice, make sure all the ingredients are pressed in, roll it completely, gently press the mat around the roll to shape it (do not squeeze).
6. With a moistened knife (bread knife cuts well!) cut the roll into 8 pieces (re-wet as needed. don't push but pull to cut!).
7. Serve with soy sauce, Wasabi, and pickled ginger.
Ingredients to make sushi vinegar from scratch.
* 3 tbsp. rice vinegar
* 1 tbsp. sugar
* 1 tsp. salt

Puerto Rico Downhill: Guajataka 7 (2013) w/ Original Skateboards + Friends
If you weren't in Puerto Rico for this years Guajataka race, you blew
it. Get there next year. Brett Ciabattini and John Kreutter lead the
charge for Original Skateboards this time around in Puerto Rico with
Scott and Sean supporting. John, Brett and our friend D.Luna killed it
in the slide jam but for those confused; Brett did not win (Louis did).
Huge thanks to the locals (who are fucking awesome) and the organizers (it was a tough crowd).
Guest appearances by lots of people. Special thanks to Jeff, Louis, Victor, and the crew at Sector 9 for their hospitality. Congrats to Kevin (open), AJ (mens), Jeff(masters) and Louis(slidejam) on their wins. Thanks to Carmen, Alicia and Ross for the shots and to Marcus Bandy and Jon Huey for shooting the photos.
Big ups to Cameron Frazier of Rayne / Edge for the gnarliest trick (3:07) we have seen in a while. No shoes, no shirt, no problem with a 65+ foot check through traffic and the rain. Respect to Les for protecting the camera and getting back up when I would have stayed down for at least another minute.

Hi! Smilin Observer here! I was at work when I heard what sounded like a "freight train". The power went out in the small building I was in. So I went outside to take a look. What I saw drove me to urgency. I gathered my things and made my escape to a more structurally sound part of the hotel where I work. Then I got the bigger picture, so I pulled out my Handy Cam and the rest is history, recounted only in this video. Thank you Jesus I wasn't caught up in it, and have mercy on those who were.

How to Make ONE PIECE Bento Lunch Box (Nori ART Recipe) ワンピース キャラ弁 海苔アート
In this video, I will show you how to make amazing Nori Art character bento box.
You can apply this technique to make any other characters you like.
Good thing about this is you can make this the night before! So you don't have to get up early to make Kyaraben for your kids :)

Nori Art
Difficulty: Patience
Time: 1.5hrs or more or less (mine took about 1.5hrs)
Number of servings: 1
Necessary Equipment:
your favorite character's picture
flexible cutting board
binder clips
design knife
tweezers
Nori seaweed sheet
sliced cheese
Directions:
1. Print out your favorite character's picture.
2. Place Nori seaweed sheet on a flexible cutting board. Then place your favorite character's picture on top of the nor seaweed sheet. Secure them with binder clips.
3. Cut out the image with a design knife. Cut out smaller parts first, larger parts last. If the parts were too small to trace, you can cut them out later (or any easier way for you is fine). Make sure you don't lose any of the parts you cut out (keep them in a box).
4. Place them on a sliced cheese.
Tips:
You can make this the night before. Wrap it securely in plastic wrap and keep it in the fridge till the next morning when you pack your bento box :)

To mark the occasion, about 20 French and Ukrainian women with slogans painted across their bare chests strode through Paris' 18th Arrondissement.The group was headed by Femen activist Inna Shevchenko who hopes to export the group's so-called "new feminism" globally. We spoke to Inna Shevchenko and asked her why her group went to France. Raw Video! A Polar Bear occupies a Shell gas station in Davos Alaska - Uncharted Waters - Canon 5D Mark III

We filmed this video in Alaska in areas that have never been rafted before!!! It was awesome!!! :) We filmed this video from July 5-16, 2012. We took several boat airplanes to super remote places. We would land in the lakes, then for some of the rivers we explored, we would have to hike 700 pounds of food, equipment etc up the tundra to reach those rivers. Bruce Hoskisson, our tour guide, and now a dear friend of mine, he had it all planned out, and on record he was the only one that had ever descended down some of the rivers we had explored.
As far as all the fish, we caught a ton, and surprisingly we decided not to keep any of them, we were there for the sport and adventure of it all.
As far as the boats that we used, they were perfect for white river rafting, and fishing at the same time, because at any time you could stick your legs down to slow you down, and be able to fish right on the river.
On top of all the fishing, we saw at least 50 grizzly bears.... and yes, it was scary at first, but then after awhile I knew we were safe... as safe as you could be around Grizzly Bears ;) We had bear spray, and electric fences to stick around our camps at night to make sure we would stay safe.

Whew! Apophis The Big Asteroid No Longer Threat To Earth
Upon further review, a big scary-sounding asteroid is no longer even a remote threat to smash into Earth in about 20 years, NASA says. Astronomers got a much better look at the asteroid when it whizzed by Earth on Wednesday from a relative safe 9 million miles away. They recalculated the space rock's trajectory and determined it wasn't on a path to hit Earth on April 13, 2036 as once feared possible. At more than 1,060 feet wide, the rock called Apophis could do significant damage to a local area if it hit and perhaps even cause a tsunami. But it was not large enough to trigger worldwide extinctions. One prominent theory that explains the extinctions of dinosaurs and other species 65 million years ago says a six-mile-wide meteorite hit Earth and spewed vast amounts of dust into the air, cooling and darkening the planet.

Famed for their ability to inflict Armageddon from outer space, asteroids are now revealing the secrets of how they are responsible for both life and death on our planet.
Armed with an array of powerful telescopes, scientists are finding up to 3000 new asteroids every night. And some are heading our way.
But astronomers have discovered that it's not the giant rocks that are the greatest danger - it's the small asteroids that pose a more immediate threat to Earth.
Researchers have explained the photon propulsion that propels these rocks across space, and have discovered that some asteroids are carrying a mysterious cargo of frost and ice across the solar system that could have helped start life on earth.

This was the action of Metropolitan Civil Guard against skaters who
walking in the square on the day 1/4/2013. It all started because a skater
riding in one of the banks, one of the guards who was not in uniform if
exalted and lost consciousness cursing playing pepper spray and
threatening all those who were in the square. including me.
これは都立の民事ガードのアクションに対してスケーターだった人
当日の広場を歩いて 2013/01/04。それをすべて始めたのでスケーター
1 つの銀行は、均一の場合ではなかった、警備員の 1 つの乗馬
高貴なし、演奏の唐辛子スプレーをのろい意識を失ったと
広場にいたすべての人を脅かします。私を含めてください。
